




Allison Carvalho started playing the guitar at the age of 9 learning from her siblings her first chords and how to read music. At 17, she met Josmar Assis, who introduced her to the traditional Brazilian repertoire. Later on, she studied with Cristina Tourinho and Mario Ulloa at the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) where she was first graduated in Music Education in 1996 and then in Classical Guitar in 1999. Some of the great musicians and educators who strongly contributed to her formation were Carmen Mettig, Manuel Veiga, Paulo Lima, Agnaldo Ribeiro and Alda Oliveira. She also received complimentary guidance on her studies from great guitarists and composers such as Thomas Patterson (USA), Eduardo Issac (ARG), Abel Carlevaro (URU), Marlos Nobre, Paulo Bellinati, Dori Caimmy (BRA), and many others.
In Brazil , Allison performed at distinguished cultural festivals such as Som & Imagem, Musica Viva, Pelourinho Dia &Noite, and Jovens Talentos Concert (with the Symphonic Orchestra of Bahia). Living in New York since 2001, Ms. Carvalho performs her solo repertoire and also the popular music of Brazil and Latin America , singing and playing along with other musicians. She also teaches individual and group guitar classes in Manhattan .
